Human Rights

I co-founded and help run Emerald Onion, a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit and public charity that operates Tor exit relays and bridges. I am co-founding Disobey Discotheque, a Dutch Stichting and ANBI that operatoes disobey.net and gay.amsterdam Mastodon servers.

Data Protection Law

I am an E.U. data protection law student at Maastricht University; but due to cognitive and time load, this formal education is on pause. I continue to read and apply the law through my human rights work above, and attend many related conferences.

Photojournalism

I am a freelance photojournalist on behalf of my company, Polyhedra B.V., and a voluntary photojournalist for WikiPortraits on behalf of Wikipedia Commons. My profile is here. As part of Disobey Discotheque, I am also starting Chaos Press, an independent project to photograph hackers at hacker events.

Sailing

I own an 11 meter (34 ft) steel-hull sailboat named Zapdos in Vancouver Canada that I have been converting from diesel to electric since 2023. My intention is to sail Zapdos from Vancouver to The Hague in 3 to 5 years; down around Mexico, Central America, through the Panama Canal, up through the Caribean to Halifax, then accross the Atlantic.
